About Rick

I have had a passion for photography since childhood, and have been a professional photographer most of my adult life.  My current job at our Big Bear Lake community TV station (TVBigBear.com) keeps me busy producing video programming.  Even though this requires that I spend the majority of my time working in video, it is landscape and nature still photography that I enjoy the most.

I have lived in Big Bear most of my life, and I love everything about it.

Over the years I have also developed a deep fascination for Big Bear history, and have had the opportunity and honor of working with some of Big Bear’s top Historians, such as Tom Core, Lee Cosad, Pauliena LaFuze, and John Robinson who have all published excellent books on the history of Big Bear Lake.   This collaboration has helped me collect over two thousand old historical images of Big Bear Lake and the other communities in the San Bernardino mountains.  Many historical images from this collection are now available in a hard bound book called Vanishing Big Bear.  Also available is a Big Bear Historical documentary “The History” which is now on DVD.  Both “The History” and “Vanishing Big Bear” are available locally at the Big Bear retail stores listed in this website, or they can be ordered directly from BigBearHistorySite.com.

Even if you don’t want to purchase books or DVD’s, visit BigBearHistorySite.com.  Here you will find many Big Bear historical videos and articles, along with a collection of Big Bear historical photo albums containing hundreds of old photos showcasing Big Bears rich history that date back to the mid 1800’s.

Other Big Bear websites (BigBearHistorySite.com, BigBearScenics.com, BigBearPhotographyTips.com, BigBearLakeAdventures.com, TVBigBear.com) contain just about everything you need to know about Big Bear Lake, and are updated regularly.  So visit them often, and enjoy!
